Tips to Survive College... or so I think
Oh yes... Today is the day that we, all students in Ateneo, get our advisory marks. These marks are supposed to be our "guides" if we need to maintain our pace in studying or if we need to double, if not triple, our efforts. Of course, with every grade, there is the possibility of hating the teacher. Oh yes.... we think of them as such evil creatures sent by Satan to ruin our perfectly relaxed, liberated lives in college. (no offense to teachers... *bows* I just heard some rants a while ago from different students). My grades weren't that great/high. I'm quite disappointed, especially with Math. I made up some "useful" tips to help me and other fellow students survive these last four or five years under the wings of teachers and faculty.
Tip #1: Never EVER procrastinate
Do whatever you can if you have the time. You need to take advantage of all the time you have. Projects, homeworks, quizzes, long tests and experiments will stack up one after the other until you're lost in a pile of unfinished (or even unstarted) works. Mind you, this is one of those situations you don't want to be in.
Tip #2: Use your cuts wisely
In college, we have control of our cuts, a limited number of cuts to be exact. We have the freedom to use them however and whenever we like. Be careful though. Teachers can and will give surprises quizzes. At times, when you have used all your cuts already, you suddenly need to miss class. Dun-dun!!! It's not good to risk chances when grades are in the line.
Tip #3: Be good friends with your blockmates
Your blockmates are your soulmates in college. They are your partners in every class, or most of your classes, you take in college. They are the ones you can run to for every quiz that "made" your day or for every love concerned problems you carry in your heart. err... you get the point. ^_^
Tip #4: Always review
Like mentioned in tip # 2, teachers can and will give surprise quizzes. At times, they give very very long and hard quizzes. At least open your notes and review for a while once you get home. It also helps in reviewing for the finals or the midterms.
Tip #5: Do advance reading (if applicable)
It's better to be prepared in class. Like going to a war, you need to arm yourself with the right attire and weapons. You could prepare for the next lesson if you read the notes in advance. It will lessen the chances of you getting lost in between the clashing of the unknown.
Tip # 6: Be responsible in doing groupworks
As the teacher stated, it is a GROUPwork. Be of help to the group. Open up and share your ideas on the project. Don't feel bad when your suggestion was not accepted; you could help out in more ways than one. ^-^ (really... I encourage you to help out. You just don't know that your groupmate would already curse you for not helping. ahaha.. just kidding. Who knows? >=) )
Tip # 7: Have enough SLEEP
Nothing recharges you better than sleep. It's an essential that everybody should not forget. Sleep enhances your memory. So sleep early and sleep around 8 hours. Another thing, sleep at the right time and place! No sleeping during class hours! >o<
Tip #8: Take advantage of the materials available
I know you've heard/read this a couple of times already but really, take advantage. It helps. (books, tutorials.... )
Tip #9: Listen to the teacher
This is the best tip I like so far. ALWAYS listen to the teacher. No matter how boring the teacher is, no matter how boring the subject is. You can't miss whatever they are saying in class. They are most of the time important.
Tip #10: Enjoy
This is what I do best. Enjoy everything that you do. Cherish every single moment in your college life. You can't turn back time so never regret what you have done or what you should have done. I guess, it's more like, being yourself. ^-^
